We provide open, non-judgmental access to collections and services without regard to race, citizenship, age, educational level, economic status, religion, or any other qualifications or conditions. The library is to serve the total community by providing free and open access to the ideas and information available on all subjects and in all formats. We select and make available materials for the enlightenment, cultural enrichment and enjoyment of its public of all ages, levels of abilities and interest. Also, we advocate and support the First Amendment Rights and the Library Bill of Rights, and protect library materials from censorship.
Though not a Utah native, Joel Tucker received in-depth leadership training through the ROTC program at the University of Utah, and commissioned as a personnel officer in the United States Air Force in 2004. While in the Air Force, Joel served as a section commander for various organizations with up to 800 personnel, where he was recognized with various officer awards, three achievement medals, and the meritorious service medal. After serving in the United States Air Force for 6 years, he separated to join Washington County in the HR department. He served for 2.5 years in that role, assisting in employee relations, investigations, wellness, and other HR responsibilities.
